Analysing television adverts- conventions

Use of camera. Extreme closeup- a small section of an object/ person Close up- neck and face Long shot- whole body and background so you get a sense of the setting Wide shot- get a lot of the background  Medium shot- waist up, can see more of the character and the background Point of view- the camera is in place of the person, can see from their POV Low angle- puts the character in a position of power and makes the viewer feel inferior High angle- makes the character seem vulnerable and puts the viewer in a position of power Over the shoulder-filmed over the shoulder of the character Speed of shots What is the effect of having a few slow moving shots and changing to lots of fast moving shots? Advertising : a campaign promoting an idea or product with the intent to persuade or generate interest within a target audience. The campaign may use many different forms of media to promote a message for a set amount of time. Media platforms used to advertise: Social media, video adverts, magazine adverts, billboards, bus signs, radio adverts, leaflets, pop-up ads (on games), newspaper ads. Evian- live young ad What is the message? Evian is attempting to convey the idea that drinking their water will allow you to feel younger and therefore happier and freer, like a baby. This would be for an older target audience. Is it effective? Yes, the message is clear and the execution of the advert is memorable so people are more likely to notice it and speak about it, promoting the brand awareness further.
